Brandy is a liquor that originates from the distillation of wine. Brandy generally contains 35–60% alcohol by volume (70–120 US proof) and is typically consumed as an after-dinner digestif.

Varieties of wine brandy can be found across the winemaking world. Among the most renowned are Cognac and Armagnac from southwestern France.

There are also ratings to determine the age of a brandy. VS brandy has aged at least three years, while the VSOP brandy has aged at least four years. VS stands for "very special" and VSOP for "very special old pale." There are also XO (extra old) brandy, which aged for at least six and a half years.
