Moscato is a famous sweet style wine with low alcohol and a light-bodied texture. Pink moscato is a variety of Moscato made with mostly Muscat grapes with a dash of red wine, usually Merlot, to give it a pink hue.
Although it originates in Italy, muscat grapes grows in wine regions all over the world. It is versatile and can be grown in most climates, thriving in France, Spain, Italy and of course has had a real resurgence as a style over the last few years within Australia.
Pink Moscato has been all the rage in the United States for some time, championed by brands such as Barefoot and Yellow Tail.
